New Patient Center

Your first Visit ...

On your first visit you will be welcomed as a member of our family practice. There is a bit of paperwork, of course, so we can gain some information about yourself and your condition.

We will then have a one on one consultation. Dr. Sullivan will ask some specific questions in order to determine if chiropractic care may be of benefit for your particular needs. If Dr. Sullivan thinks she can help you, she will let you know. If she cannot help, or if she thinks you’d be better served by another provider, you will be referred to the practitioner or health care facility that will be able to help you the most.

After the consultation, there is a complete chiropractic examination. This includes testing your reflexes, your ability to turn and bend as well as other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural and physical examinations. If Xrays are necessary, we will refer you to a nearby facility to have them taken.

We then discuss your history, your goals and make some preliminary recommendations. Patients will generally be provided with their first treatment at the conclusion of this appointment. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapies and/or soft tissue therapies. Treatment is interactive with you so you can give feedback about the style of adjustment with which you will be most comfortable.

In most cases, you will be provided with home care instructions in the form of ice or heat, stretching and exercises. We also may make suggestions regarding modification of certain activities or positions during the healing process. Our goal is to keep you active – doing all the activities you enjoy!

Results of Tests

At your second visit, Dr. Sullivan will have studied your history and exam findings and will present treatment options. Every body is unique and therefore everyone requires a unique and customized treatment plan.

Treatment Phases

Active Care: This is the initial phase of treatment in which we seek to address the underlying cause of symptoms. It takes 4-8 wks on average, depending upon how long the problem has been in existence.

Wellness or Maintenance Care: Once we reach your goals for active treatment, we offer the option of wellness care. This is a preventative treatment, scheduled monthly, quarterly or biannually, depending upon your needs.
